Base Work At Last

Tango has (finally!) decided on a plan for his base, and with the help of his patrons, come up with an idea to make the lake above his base look as if it’s being held up by magic. To accomplish this, he needs to do many things: kill a lot of wither skeletons, gather some wither skulls, kill a few withers, and (you can see where this is heading, right?) make a few beacons.

The light from the beacons are what are going to create the magic that holds up the lake. Believe me, I explained that much better than Tango did. But one of the things we love about Tango is his enthusiasm and Tango’s mouth doesn’t always work right when he gets enthusiastic.

Many Dead Tangos

The How To Kill A Tango contest concluded this week with a dazzling display of torturous ways to not only kill Tango, but drive him insane in the process. It seems like many of the Hermits really wanted to out Tango through the ringer before they killed him. The contestants were Cubfan135, Grian, DocM77, ImpulsSV, and Xisuma all vying for the title of best murderer of Tango. They all had unique ways of doing it; there were no two devices exactly alike. Some didn’t actually kill him – but they made him want to kill himself. You really have to watch the video to get the full effect of how Tango felt going through it – and to see who won!

A Whole New Way To Play

Tango only released one video and this week and when we saw it on Friday we understood why – and wow, was it ever worth the wait!

What If Minecraft Had Better Villagers, Part 2 was released and Tango outlined new villagers he has added to his upcoming mod as well as plans for the future. This video blew my mind. Things I had never even considered, Tango has incorporated in this new way to play Minecraft.

New Heights

Tango took the game to new heights this week with his double blaze spawner farm on Hermitcraft season six, episode 23. And he didn’t fall into the lava below while making it! :round of applause: The adventure was perilous and fraught with ghasts and wither skeletons and lava that was calling his name from just below, but our intrepid Tango managed to pull this off without a hitch in Monday’s livestream on Mixer. He was even kind enough to let viewers pick the glass colors instead of using his usual red and white – which is why they are lovely in pink and magenta. For those who don’t tune in to Tango’s livestreams, you’re missing some truly fantastic moments. Not only do you get complete interaction with Tango and other fans, but Tango gives insights into things he usually doesn’t share in his YouTube videos. His thoughts on the upcoming Minecraft updates, for example. Or interaction with Mrs. Tango and access to her awesome recipes, for another. (This alone is worth attending. Mrs. T’s recipes are legendary and the best thing about being a Tango fan. Sorry, Tango. We love you, but we love Mrs. T more.) If you want to keep a closer eye on when Tango is livestreaming, follow us on Twitter and/or Facebook. We make several announcements so you can still catch the stream if you missed the first one.
Interesting aside: Gnembon has decided to join the “How to Kill a Tango” challenge, even though he isn’t an official member of Hermitcraft – although considering how many of his builds have been built in Hermitcraft worlds, he should be imho. If you’re interested in seeing why (Gnembon is a genius with the game mechanics of MC) check out his new video, How to Kill a Tango with Cod AI and Invisible Creepers. Tango himself is equally impressed.
Over a Skyblock, the Mystic server reset last weekend, so season 2 has begun with Tango starting from scratch. He has a much-improved cactus farm design that should help him level up even faster. Cactus, as we found out last season, is the best way to make your starter money. Although mining sessions may prove lucrative for Tango, if he continues to have the luck he did in episode 1.

How Would You Kill Tango?

Tango wants the Hermits to come up a unique machine. One that will – without any interaction from themselves – kill Tango. I can think of a couple of good ways, but I’m not a Hermit, so I don’t get to enter. I’m excited to see what the Hermits come up with.

Patreon Server Update!

This Saturday, October 6th, Tango will be resetting his Patreon server and updating it to Minecraft version 1.13. So if you a patron of his, you can be a part of this brand new world.

As a patron myself, I can tell you that the folks on the Titancraft server are friendly and helpful and that playing on a server is a completely different experience than playing in a single-player world. Benefiting from community farms, learning new techniques, being able to do things you normally would not have access to (I had never fought the dragon before playing on a server, for example) are all part of the multiplayer experience that make it so much better than single player. If you can afford it, I highly recommend playing in a Patreon  multiplayer world.

If you are not yet a patron, you can sign up here.

The Mall of DERP

I watched Minecon Earth 2018 on Mixer, and during the live stream, when they were talking about changes to the villagers, the chat was exploding with people asking for Tango’s villagers to be added to the game. I couldn’t stop smiling! But now that that stream is over, let’s catch up with what Tango has been doing this week. Read More

You Can Do Almost Everything Underwater

You can do almost anything from underwater in the Update Aquatic, and fighting the wither is one of them. Tango found that out this week when he and Xisuma took on the wither to get a nether star for another beacon.

All The Poppies

This week, Tango showed us the agony of defeat and the sweetness of success. Tango and Impulse had a very unsuccessful Drown-hunting session in the DERP stream last week, but on Monday’s stream, things went much differently. Tango then set up the underwater killing chamber in the stream, which he shows off in Hermitcraft VI: #16 Death Under The Sea. He did a fantastic job of making it look like it is part of the Aquatic Update and those drowns are naturally spawned in the world like that. Kudos, Tango. In #17: Trident Barrage!, Tango seems to think that coral grows like a saguaro cactus, but we’ll cut him a break because it’s his first time decorating with coral. He demonstrates how he’s going to get his trident-wielding drowns into their places, and then he cuts to show us the winner of the grand prize of the Dig My Bits competition. The minecarts are then installed under the magma blocks in the ocean, the drowns are moved into place, and … well, Tango’s new friends aren’t always friendly, so pistons and glass blocks are needed. Tango is building this, so of course, redstone is involved. And then the golems start falling. Over on Skyblock, Tango goes in search of quests, and the other attractions to be found on the server. It involves a lot of falling. He then tries his hand at enchanting to get a Looting sword for Little Wee Man, and in typical Tango fashion, he goes a bit crazy with it.   The current streaming schedule is: All times in Arizona time UTC-7  You can find a time converter here and here. You can also use America/Phoenix as a reference point. Wednesday 9 am-12 noon Friday   2 pm – 5 pm Tango now has a merchandise store where you can buy Tango Tek mugs and Dig My Bits t-shirts! Killing It on Skyblock

Tango is killing it – many things, actually, on Skyblock, so if you aren’t following that series, you really should check it out. In episode 4, he kills a few bosses, makes a trip into the Nether, and adds a few spawners to his already OP mob killing spot. In episode 5, Tango does science to once again try to break the game. And then he tries his hand at having a minion do the work for him. Experimentation and fun all around!     On Hermitcraft season 6, Tango finally blows the big hole in his island of glory and pancakes that he’s been promising us all season in episode 12.           But the rest of the dig needs more precision – and is a lot of work – so Tango creates a competition, called Dig My Bits. The idea is that if you dig out the cave, you will find shulker boxes filled with varying levels of loot buried within (there’s still a rare box unfound as of this writing) and one note with a chance at the grand prize. Whoever has the most notes when the digging is complete gets the grand prize. As the digging is not yet complete, we aren’t sure who won yet, but I have my suspicions. You have to tune in to ImpulseSV, Welsknight and Xisuma to see the digging, but it took less than ten hours to dig out the majority of the rest of the mountain.   In episode 14, something is amiss on Hermit Island. Tango and Xisuma claim that iJevin is treating his villagers at his iron farm unethically and form a protest outside, in front of, on top of, and all around iJevin’s iron shop that has to be seen to be believed. Before he resumes his base, though, Tango has a major project to complete. Apparently the Hermits have been clamoring for lots and lots of poppies and Tango, being the expert on giant farms that amass large amounts of poppies, has begun work on a huge “poppy farm” in the sky. It requires a lot of materials, including villagers, which Tango assures us, after his prank on iJevin, will be treated ethically. In episode 15, building of the Iron Titan (Poppy Titan?) with a new and improved (hopefully) killing chamber begins. In Friday’s DERP stream, Tango and Impulse worked on the new Iron Titan “poppy farm” that he started construction of in his last video. Having used lava in the past to kill the iron golems and then updating to evokers and vex for season 5 of Hermitcraft, Tango thought it was time to update the means of obtaining poppies once again for 1.13. But drowns with tridents don’t appear just because you want one, so he and Impulse went literally around in circles before heading to Tango’s trident farm to try to find some. But sometimes you have to break a few eggs, or trident farms, in order to make it work.     The current streaming schedule is: All times in Arizona time UTC-7  You can find a time converter here and here.
